Alexander Walther (Jena)
Alexander Walther is a PhD candidate at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. He studied history and English in a teacher’s training course at the University of Jena and completed his First State Examination in 2014. His research interests include Holocaust studies and memory, German and Yugoslavian history and cultures of memory. His dissertation project investigates the multi-faceted forms of commemoration practices and representations of the Holocaust in the GDR. He has published various articles on Holocaust memory in the GDR and on the memories of Yugoslavian refugees of the 1990s war.
