Prof. Dr. Bernhard Groß (Jena)

Bernhard Groß has been Professor of Film Studies/Visual Aesthetics of Cinematic Media at Friedrich Schiller University Jena since April 2018. From 2016 to 2018, he was Professor of Film Theory at the University of Vienna. From 2011 to 2016, he was Guest Professor of Media and Film Studies at the Universities of Berlin (FU), Bochum (RUB) and Braunschweig (HBK). His most recent publications include The Films are among us. On the Historicity of Early German Postwar Cinema. Rubblefilm, Genre and Documentaries (2015); »The History of Cinema as a History of a Modulation of the Spectator«, in: Leonardo Quaresima et al. (Eds.), A History of Cinema without Names (2016) and Thinking Film and Society with Siegfried Kracauer/Film und Gesellschaft Denken mit Siegfried Kracauer (Co-Ed., 2019).
