Dr. Máté Zombory (Budapest)

Máté Zombory, sociologist, is Associate Professor at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. His field of interest is the historical sociology of transnational and cultural memory. As a Post-Doc Fellow of Fondation pour la mémoire de la Shoah, Paris, he is currently conducting a research project on the Cold War history of Holocaust documentation, focusing on the activities of the Hungarian journalist and author Jenő Lévai. Máté Zombory’s other research projects include the early post-war discourses on confronting the past, and the transnational memory culture of anti-fascism. He is author of Traumatársadalom. Az emlékezetpolitika történeti-szociológiai kritikája [Trauma Society. A Historical-Sociological Critique of the Politics of Memory] (2019) and Maps of Remembrance. Space, Belonging and Politics of Memory in Eastern Europe (2012).
